Happy Friday, happy Flag Day and happy 75th anniversary, Chinatown. Today’s Buzz Bands LA Show on Moheak Radio will kick off with a little preview of the bands playing the LA Weekly Local Music Stage at Saturday’s opener of this year’s Chinatown Summer Nights Series, where Nightmare & the Cat headlines a six-band lineup that features the Furys, Rainbow Jackson, Jutty Ranx, Sister Rogers and Cobalt Cranes (among other activities marking Chinatown’s birthday). Today’s show is loaded with with new stuff as well – including a special treat from Johnette Napolitano. I’ll also have freshly minted songs from No Age, Chris Schlarb, Jake Bellows and Raw Geronimo, plus tunes from recent album releases by the 88, the Reflections, Kisses, GRMLN and the Coals.
