Wow, what a Thursday:
‣ The summer’s Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier winds up with a performance by the legendary Jimmy Cliff, along with the Delirians and Ethan Tucker. It certainly won’t the final party of the yer at the Pier – not with next weekend’s The Beach Ball festival and the Newport Folk’s Way Over Yonder on Oct. 5-6, but the Twilight series is free.
‣ Long-running Canadian post-rockers Godspeed You! Black Emperor play the Fonda Theatre.
‣ London duo AlunaGeorge headlines the El Rey Theatre behind their debut album “Body Music.” Supreme Cuts and Lovelife open.
‣ Body/Head, the new project featuring Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon working with Bill Nace, visits the Echo behid this week’s release of their album “Coming Apart” on Matador. White Magic and Bad News open.
‣ Titus Andronicus rocks the Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock behind their new album “Local Business.” That the band’s video for “Still Life With Hot Deuce And Silver Platter,” above.
‣ It’s the final night of the Pixies’ L.A. run of shows – this one at the Mayan Theatre with Meg Myers opening.
‣ And if you’re the mood for something free and different – singer-songwriter Ceci Bastida is the musical guest at this month’s installment of the Kennedy Administration variety show at Echoes Under Sunset.
