Here’s what’s happening on a fantastic Friday:
‣ Woodkid, the musical appellation of Frenchman Yoanne Lemoine, returns to the Fonda Theatre, where he put on a spectacular show in May. Woodkid’s album “The Golden Age” recently got wider release, and Lemoine, known for making videos for Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, projects his music in equally compelling fashion – the three Woodkid videos [including “Run Boy Run,” above] have combined to earn more than 35 million YouTube views.
‣ Reunited Knapsack – one of the emo originals when “emo” wasn’t a dirty word – plays one for the ’90s indie kids at the Echoplex, with Seahaven opening.
‣ Hanni El Khatib rocks the El Rey Theatre behind his sophomore album “Head in the Dirt.” Bass Drum of Death and Tijuana Panthers support.
‣ Passion Pit and the Joy Formidable team up for a big night at the Greek Theatre.
‣ Big local show at the Bootleg Bar, with up-and-comers the Moth & the Flame heading up a lineup that includes Irontom and the Tragic Thrills.
‣ Fuzz, the newest project from prolific congwriter Ty Segall, headlines the Satellite.
‣ NYC’s Hercules & Love Affair plays the Troubadour, supported by Oh Boy Les Mecs and Rare Times.
‣ AFI [good at the Fonda on Tuesday] hits the Fox Theater Pomona, supported by Touche Amore.
‣ And Together Pangea plays a cozy show at Casey’s downtown along with Big Black Cloud and Corners.
