‣ Merrill Garbus, aka tUnE-yArDs, plays the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Her new album “Nikki Nack” comes out tomorrow via 4AD (and she’ll be back to play the Fonda Theatre one month from today). Moses Sumney opens tonight. That’s the video for “Water Fountain,” above, directed by Joel Kefali and animated by Kefali and Robert Wallace.
‣ L.A. quartet Air Life kicks off its residency at the Satellite on a night that features Gallant, Sanglorians and the Silver Lake Chorus. Buzz Bands LA is co-presenting the night and providing the between-sets selections.
‣ It’s double your fun at the Echo, where In the Valley Below and Sam Endicott’s the Mercy Beat have the co-residency. Soft Swells and Pillar Point support.
‣ Electro-soul man Jarell Perry launches his residency at the Bootleg, supported by Evan Mellows, Chuck Inglish and Thatkidcalhoun.
‣ Retro-rockers the Acetates have the Silverlake Lounge residency, and opening night also features Adam Henry, Steps of Doe and Trash Honey.
‣ And Fountains of Wayne guitarist Jody Porter will be playing music from his solo debut “Month of Mondays” at a Viper Room residency this month. Eve 6 frontman Max Collins – who has a solo ablum out this week as well, titled “Honey From the Icebox,” opens tonight.
