The Desert Stars Festival – once known as the Clean Air Clear Stars fest – has had an up-and-down record during its seven-year run at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown. The annual gathering, held in the fall and always leaning toward desert-appropriate psych-rock, has had some epic weekends, and some not-so-epic ones.

This year’s eighth festival – Oct. 3 and 4 – goes for the gold: The Dandy Warhols, Mark Gardener (of Ride), Little Barrie, David J & the Gentleman Thieves, Ringo Deathstarr, the Telescopes and Drinking Flowers are among the first round or artists announced, along with He’s My Brother She’s My Sister, the Spyrals, Jesika Von Rabbit, Miranda Lee Richards, the Blank Tapes and more.

A limited number of weekend passes will be available through the festival’s Kickstarter campaign when it goes live next Tuesday. General weekend passes will go on sale in June. More info at the event’s Facebook page.
