Video: Allah-Las, ‘Buffalo Nickel’

L.A. quartet Allah-Las are the 1966 Volkswagen Bus of garage/surf/jangle rock – positively retro cool, like time-capsule cool, daddy-o – but lacking the horsepower to tackle the slightest of inclines. I’ve been in a small minority of guitar-pop fans who haven’t genuflected over the foursome’s meticulously crafted work; there was crowd-surfing at their packed-to-gills Echo Park Rising show, so somebody is catching Allah-Las’ waves where I’m hearing just flat ocean. On Sept. 16, the foursome of Miles Michaud, Pedrum Siadatian, Spencer Dunham and Matthew Correia release their sophomore album “Worship the Sun” via Innovative Leisure. It’s probably sounds pretty great on vinyl and it probably works well as a soundtrack to a summer sunset at the beach. Enjoy it while I continue my search the inner hippie that I seemingly misplaced in about 1970.
