Allah-Las’ psych-surf-jangle goodness reached peak cool with their 2019 album “LAHS.” Now the L.A. quartet is changing things up.

The band — Matthew Correia, Spencer Dunham, Miles Michaud and Pedrum Siadatian — will release their fifth album, “Zuma 85,” on Oct. 13. They’re calling it a reinvention, and one only needs to hear the first single, “The Stuff,” to hear their songwriting engine change gears.

Released along with the album opener and title track “Zuma 85,” a hazy instrumental, “The Stuff” speaks to a different set of influences they cire: late-era Lou Reed and John Cale, Peter Ivers, early Eno and Roxy Music and pop and loner-folk obscurities.
