Fans at the Regent Theater on Friday night got a taste of what the recently rehabbed and reopened venue is like when it’s really sold out. And really loud. And really warm. Headliners Death From Above 1979 did nothing to mitigate any of those circumstances, which was OK with most who packed the room to see the Canadian punk rock duo perform behind their new album “The Physical World.” DFA1979’s new album, their second full-length, came 10 years after their debut – they broke up in 2006 and re-formed in 2011 – and Jesse Keeler and Sebastien Grainger wasted no time giving fans at the Regent what they wanted. They zoomed from song to song with little banter, inspiring a vicious mosh pit and plenty of crowd-surfing. Portland electro outfit Hustle and Drone and Chicago sibling rockers White Mystery supported, their energetic sets suffering slight interruptions when, mysteriously, the house lights would come on and the P.A. would shut off. The sound system gremlins had been chased away by the time DFA1979 took the stage.
