Here’s your Saturday, choose wisely:
► Long-running L.A. psych-rockers the Warlocks — bouncing back after being victimized by thieves last week (they lost about $8,000 in gear) — head up a Cleopatra Records night at the Bootleg HiFi that features a stellar lineup, including Magic Wands, Bloody Candy, VOWWS, Bestial Mouth and Loto Ball.
► Australian psych-pop trio DMA’s, their self-titled EP just out on Mom+Pop, visit the Echo, supported by Line & Circle and Bobby T & the Slackers. Above, DMA’s video for “Laced.”
► Rapper Joey Bada$$ brings his “World Domination” tour to the Fonda Theatre, with Mick Jenkins and Denzel Curry supporting.
► Mystic Braves rock the Troubadour, joined by Tomorrow’s Tulips, Mr. Elevator & the Brain Hotel and So Many Wizards.
► The Damnwells, back to their original lineup for their new, self-titled album (the band’s fifth), rock the Roxy, supported by Matt Jaffe & the Distractions and Joshua Fletcher.
► And the 37th annual Playboy Jazz Festival kicks off at the Hollywood Bowl, with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and the Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble, Eddie Palmieri Afro-Caribbean Jazz Band (with guests Ronnie Cuber, Alfredo De La Fe, Donald Harrison and Joe Locke), Aloe Blacc, Tower of Power and more.
