Ben Cassorla is known primarily as a guitarsmith, his talents having been utilized by the likes of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Slick Rick and Washed Out, among others. He’s found time to make three solo Cassorla EPs, although the last one, “Amigos,” was not-so-solo since it featured collaborations with amigos like Christopher Richard (Crash) from Edward Sharpe, Aubrey Plaza, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes and Eric Earley of Blitzen Trapper. On his new EP, “The Right Way” (out this week), Cassorla spreads his wings further, working with producer Mighty Mike and dipping his toe into the world electro-tinted pop. Cassorla’s new four-pack of songs is smart and understated, his guitar trading places with keys and digital percussion on the title track. On “Be On,” you can imagine the songwriter staring out the window of somebody else’s tour bus, contemplating his own place, hoping “we’ll get to L.A. before dawn.”
