As they circle indie-pop’s racetrack with their old name Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. in their rear-view mirror, the duo now known as JR JR are back to crafting pop gems — and, apparently, whistling while they work. The new single from Josh Epstein and Daniel Zott, “Gone,” is a brisk, deceptively cheery pop confection that takes on a whole new meaning in the Surrealist video treatment by the Spanish duo Tania Verduzco and Adrian Pérez, who work as Los Pérez. Here in the land of disembodied dancers, all might not be well. Best keep moving. The band’s new album, titled for their new name “JR JR,” is out Sept. 25.
