The Bangles, Al Stewart, more to play John Wicks benefit concert

The Bangles, Al Stewart, Peter Case and the Muffs head up the lineup for an Oct. 8 show benefiting power-pop luminary John Wicks at the Teragram Ballroom.

Wicks is the producer-songwriter best known for fronting the U.K. band The Records, who released three albums on Virgin in the late 1970s and early ’80s (you might remember “Starry Eyes”) and remain active today. He has been battling Stage 4 pancreatic cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, and the show, being staged by the L.A. collective the Wild Honey Foundation, will help him defray cost of treatment. Wicks has been an active participant in Wild Honey’s charitable efforts before, including having performed with frequent collaborator Debbi Peterson at February’s “White Album” benefit show.

In addition, the show will feature Moody Blues guitarist Denny Laine, The Kennedys and the all-star gang known as the Wild Honey Orchestra. It will be hosted by Chris Carter of KLOS’s “Breakfast With The Beatles.”
