Mexican singer Lila downs, winner of a Grammy Award and three Latin Grammys, has been announced as headliner for one of L.A. most popular annual events, the 16th annual Dia de los Muertos festival at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Tickets to the event, which this year is themed “Shamanic Visions of the Huichol,” are $20.

Known to gringos as L.A. Day of the Dead, the event this year also features the L.A. premiere of the group Huichol Musical, as well as retro-cumbia group La Misa Negra, Mexican folk singer Edna Vasquez and El Mariachi Manchester, the East L.A. mariachi band that pays homage to the music of the Smiths/Morrissey.

In other, unrelated Oct. 24 news, KCRW announced last Friday that its eighth annual Masquerade Costume Ball and Dance Party has been cancelled because of the “unforeseen temporary closure” of the event’s venue, The Legendary Park Plaza Hotel in Westlake Park. In a press release, the station pledged to “focus our efforts on a stellar Halloween event for 2016.”
