Chelsea Wolfe took fans to the edge of the “Abyss,” and maybe beyond, on Friday night at the Regent Theater, drenching the young crowd with the gothic metal folk from her new album. Wolfe’s set included nine of the 11 songs on “Abyss” — starting with “Carrion Flowers,” “Dragged Out” and “Iron Moon” — and touching on 2013’s “Pain Is Beauty” for three songs (“We Hit a Wall,” “Kings” and “House of Metal”) and 2011’s “Apokalypsis” for two (“Mer” and closer “Pale on Pale”). As dark as Wolfe was, she might have been out-doomed by openers Wovenhand, whose frontman David Eugene Edwards cast an eerie pall on the sold-out crowd.
