U.K. dream-pop outfit Lush, who were underground favorites on both sides of the Atlantic and enjoyed their biggest success with their pop-leaning final album “Lovelife,” have announced they will reunite, with surviving members Miki Berenyi, Emma Anderson and Phil King scheduling a show in May.

A message posted on their website this morning said:

“It’s not easy but try to picture this;
Do you remember that we were once together?”

Well, we are again. Almost.

“When you’re gone out of sight not out of mind.
But you know, this feeling took me years to find”

If you missed us the first time round, or just lost your copy of Spooky, 4AD are reissuing a coloured vinyl issue of our ‘best of’ album Ciao! and a box set reissue of all our albums.

The message added that they are playing the Roundhouse in London on May 6.

In a press release, Berenyi said: “The opportunities and practicalities of reforming Lush meant that for 20 years it was an impossible undertaking. But we all loved what we did, and the time is finally right for us to do it again.”

The band broke up after the suicide of drummer Chris Acland in late 1996; “Lovelife” had been released in the spring of that year, but a disastrous tour of America followed. Lush’s catalog includes three proper albums, including 1992’s “Spooky” (produced by Cocteau Twins’ Robin Guthrie) and the 1990 compilation “Gala” that included songs from three earlier EPs and was meant to introduced the band to the U.S.

Justin Welch, formerly of Elastica, will play drums for the live shows.

Lush’s reunion follows the similar re-formation of their U.K. sonic brethren Slowdive and Ride over the past two years. Coachella, perhaps? Stay tuned.
