When we last heard from Jonathan Bates — aka Big Black Delta — this summer, he was pulling himself up from a dark series of events and declaring, “It’s OK.” It was the first step in unveiling music from his sophomore album “Tragame Tierra.” Since then, he’s teased supporters with streams “Capsi2ed” (a remake of a song from his first album) and the 10-minute, New Age-y instrumental “RIPInPeace.” Now he’s back to having fun, decade-diving to the 1980s for a collaboration with Debbie Gibson. Yes, that Debbie Gibson. He writes: “Excited to finally share a song I did with a hero of mine, the one and only Debbie Gibson. I reached out to her and she was cool enough to give it a go. Its about two lovers whose time together had ended. That and some Paganini.” Gibson, now 45, was 16 when she first released “Only in My Dreams,” which Bates called the inspiration for “RCVR.” She still sounds like it here.
