Saxon Cole Kincy — aka Old Man Saxon, or in his words, “struggling rapper” — is a 27-year-old from Denver who decided to give Los Angeles a try a few years ago. He hasn’t formally released any music since “On Point” in 2013, but he can freestyle about asada burritos and his dense and often comedic raps are a trove of rhymes. Old Man Saxon’s forthcoming EP was written during a year he spent “essentially living on the streets of L.A.,” he says. The new song “Perils” was produced by New Zealander James Guyton, aka ThiefOfBaghdad, whom Old Man Saxon met on Soundcloud. […] When we first met Saxon Cole Kincy — aka Old Man Saxon — he was fresh off a year-plus of living in the back of his Ford Explorer, the only “home” could could manage after moving to Los Angeles from Denver. He rapped about it on his 2016 EP “The Perils,” which was slow to gain momentum but now has enjoyed millions on online streams. His dense wordplay, rhymes and witticisms remain outside the mainstream, but he’s gained a following not only with his humor and three-piece suit demeanor, but with his tackling serious issues such as child abandonment (he’s a rapping tortoise in “Sunday Saxon”).
