The Gloomies

San Diego’s the Gloomies debuted last fall with the single “LSD,” which lived up to its trippy name and earned comparisons to Tame Impala and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Their new single “Bleached Out,” though, sounds as if Andrew Craig, Blake Martz, Chris Trombley and Grant Martz have packed their hallucinogens in a saddlebags, climbed a horse and ridden off into the sagebrush. Not the Western folk of Lord Huron — in fact, it recalls a less cinematic and heavy Spindrift — “Bleached Out” is the lead track on the band’s new EP “Blackout,” out April 1 via Thrill Me Records. “A lot of friends who heard ‘LSD’ first might be surprised by ‘Blackout,’” singer Craig says. “But it was important to me that these songs come out now and together on this record. It felt right.”
