As he was Saturday in the Mojave Tent at Coachella, British singer-songwriter James Bay was greeted adoringly Tuesday night by a sold-out crowd at the Theatre at Ace Hotel.

The 25-year-old’s 14-song featured almost all of the songs on his debut album “Chaos and the Calm,” released a year ago, starting with “Collide” and ending with “Hold Back the River.” For the encore, he was joined by sister trio Joseph (who opened the night) for a rendition of the Band’s “Look Out Cleveland,” in honor of Levon Helm, who died on April 19 four years ago at age 71.
