Ears Wide Open: Cuesta Loeb

Cuesta Loeb

There’s only a hint of Cuesta Loeb’s background in classical music in her first single “My King” — plucked strings at the outset give way to strummed ukulele, her velvety vocals and a warm wave of dreamy guitars. It’s a poignant introduction to the young singer, full name Christina Cuesta Loeb, a New York City native and the daughter of jazz guitarist Chuck Loeb and Spanish singer-songwriter-actress Carmen Cuesta. Having moved to L.A. last year, she’s been at work on her debut EP, “Dive.” It features contributions from Michael Garner (Hunter Hunted), multi-instrumentalist/producer Blake Straus and bassist Will Lee. Loeb’s four-song debut will be out later this month, but for now: Shoegaze this.
