In February, Alina Cutrono — aka Alina Bea — released her “Live Undone,” her debut EP of sweetly off-kilter pop confessionals informed by the end of a long relationship and the dissolution of her former band Body Parts. Now it’s as if she’s dusted off her hands and said, “Got that out the way. Time to get down to business.” Her new single “Get If Off” is experimental banger inspired by the likes of Kate Bush, Bjork and the Knife. Co-produced by Theo Karon and Ben Babbitt and featuring woozy cello by Christopher Votek, it’s an all-nerves-exposed frolic that finds the L.A. singer-songwriter stretching out rhythmically and compositionally but still trying to shuck some baggage. “It’s the same thing over again / See a hot stove, touch it again,” she starts, scolding herself for being “locked in this cycle.” The single was released today via New Professor and will appear on the label’s singles compilation next month.
