Today, Froth announced their signing with Wichita Recordings, sharing a song and video from the forthcoming third album, “Outside (briefly),” to be released on Feb. 10. Recorded to tape over 40 days with producer Thomas Dolas, these 10 new songs were written during the latter half of 2015, shedding some of the psych-pop and noise found on their last album, “Bleak,” in favor of more experimental arrangements and the inclusion of some new tricks, cello, synths and keyboards, drum machines and Rhodes. Lyrically, JooJoo Ashworth found inspiration in the writings of Haruki Murakami and Richard Brautigan, even naming the the album after a chapter in Brautigan’s book.

Bringing some of that conceptualization to the visual realm for “Contact,” Ashworth says “I feel like the video does a good job representing the inspiration of the song through a desperate space obsessed man.” The band worked with frequent collaborator Riley Blakeway to realize this hallucinatory hangout with a man in his underpants.
