When it came time to create the music which wound up on “Crab Day,” Cate Le Bon shacked up in a studio with some of her favorite musicians and recorded a batch of fresh songs that she’d just sketched out. Produced by Noah Georgeson and Josiah Steinbrick, and featuring musicians H. Hawkline, Stephen Black and Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), 10 songs formed the final product, released back in April by Drag City. But, to the delight of Le Bon fans, four more songs from that session will soon be delivered into our sweaty palms. Drag City will release “Rock Pool” as a 12-inch on Jan. 27. “Written under the same banner of the impossibly absurd and emerging to unimaginable bedlam,” says the Welsh songwriter, now based in L.A., “Rock Pool” provides more of that clever wisdom and soft strangeness from the carousel of her imagination.
