► Zane Carney (backed by the members of Carney) headlines the El Rey Theatre, joined by Corey Harper and Aly Ryan.
► Long-running indie luminaries Howe Gelb and Mark Eitzel co-headline the cozy downtown venue Resident. Gelb’s eclectic career took a turn last year when he retired his longtime project Giant Sand and released a solo album of jazzy piano songs, “Future Standards.” Eitzel (ex-American Music Club) releases his 10th solo album, “Hey Mr Ferryman,” on Friday. Blake Hazard (ex-the Submarines) opens.
► Theo Katzman (of Vulfpeck) visits the Bootleg Theater in support of his solo album “Heartbreak Hits,” released Jan. 6. Madison Douglas opens.
► Shreveport, La., quartet Seratones team up with Minnesotans Communist Daughter for a show at the Echo.
► Lydia Loveless rocks the Troubadour, with Angelica Garcia supporting.
► Jesse Malin masterminds a huge benefit show at the Roxy that includes Butch Walker, Pete Yorn, Brody Dalle, Wayne Kramer, Jakob Dylan and more.
► And “Rest in Power: An Oakland Fire Relief Gathering” brings Pharaohs, Maria Minerva, Magic Touch, Leech, Roche, Sage Caswell, Jen Ferrer and Cromie to the Regent Theater for a benefit for victims of the Ghost Ship tragedy.
