It was a night for powerhouse singers Monday at the El Rey Theatre, with the diminutive 36-year-old who goes by the name LP capping the night with a lights-out performance. Flitting back and forth across the stage and romping to the front to slap hands with fans, the L.A.-based Long Island native (born Laura Pergolizzi) performed much of the material on her third album “Lost on You,” released in December.

LP was preceded by Lauren Ruth Ward, who’s won fans wherever and whenever she’s played around L.A. in the past year. She performed her recent singles including “Blue Collar Sex Kitten” and “Did I Offend You.”

Opening the night was Josiah & the Bonnevilles, another singer with an outsized voice and emotion-packed delivery. The headliner joined frontman Josiah Leming for one song, and his set included “Can You Heart It” from the “Cold Blood” EP, as well as the new single “Please.”
