Is in-your-faceness a term? Do you at least get what we mean? It’s dialed back on “Money On It,” the new single from Together Pangea’s forthcoming new album “Bulls and Roosters.” Not that it’s a bad thing at all — because, as singer-guitarist William Keegan says, “It’s important to never make the same album twice.”

“We wanted to try new things and experiment with making music that wasn’t so aggressive or fast,” he explains. “Rather than worrying about any expectations, we were like, ‘Fuck all that. Let’s be as honest as we can possibly be.’ Sure it’s growth, but there’s still a brattiness to it.” Indeed, on the new mid-tempo rocker, Keegan still sings like he’s being dragged down a gravel driveway and the guitar licks still have that vintage-amp bite, but “Money On It” is not the garage-rock rager that the album’s first single “Better Find Out” was.

“Bulls and Roosters” will be out Aug. 25 via Nettwerk, the quartet’s third label in the past three albums.
