L.A. indie duo Lean (Kyle McCammon and Stephen Johnson) have announced that their debut album, “Years,” will be released on May 25 via Killphonic. The album’s first single is “Inaction,” a catchy and spot-on observation about how superficiality often supplants a real move towards change. Whereas their previous single “Come Back” was about getting lost in the party scene, “Inaction” takes a hard look at needing to look deeper and take serious actions in one’s life to find happiness. The song’s dance-worthy beat belies the serious critique: “Making words, faking the passion / Live in the currents, follow the fashion / Never changed anything you wished you could / Appearances are easy if you only wanna look good.” Says Johnson: “It’s not about any specific personal experience or people. It’s just a general impression of how all people are, and particularly some of our worst qualities.” Consider the song a catchy challenge to get real.
