Songwriter Ben Schneider’s homage to cosmic night-cruising through L.A., Lord Huron‘s third album, “Vide Noir,” is out today on Whispering Pines/Republic Records. French for “black void,” the album title headlines a story about a reality that shifts between the city and other dimensions. There’s love, heartbreak and mysterious symbolism challenging the central character to find hope for himself in the infinite, often dismal, abyss of the universe. On a lighter note, the visual material accompanying the album has been ambitious and good-looking, including a public access television show that expands on the album’s world.
