Above: The irrepressible Sean Tillman — aka Har Mar Superstar — is a man of many talents. The Minneapolis hero (no exaggeration: Sept. 20, 2013, was by official proclamation named Har Mar Superstar Day in that city) and onetime L.A. resident has made dance music, indie-rock, pop anthems and soul serenades, many of which he ends up performing in his skivvies during his exuberant, sweaty concerts. He’s collaborated with a host of A-listers. He’s had cameos in films. And last Valentine’s Day, he did a sold-out show in a Minneapolis jazz club performing the songs of Sam Cooke, and it was croon-tastic. He and his band have now taken that show on the road, doing a set of songs made famous by the legendary singer and a set of his own. Har Mar Superstar Sings Sam Cooke visits the Regent Theater on Friday night. Tickets.
