Nathaniel Rateliff led his Night Sweats around the Greek Theatre with the swagger of a countrified James Brown. Draped in velvet fringed curtains, the throwback stage decor transported the audience to the intimate blue-moon tinted honky tonk days of yore. Wednesday nights show rounded out the first leg of Rateliff tour behind his latest Stax Records-released album, “Tearing At The Seams.” The band was impactful and connected, and the fun showed in their expressive faces. He dedicated several songs to dear friend, musician Richard Swift, who passed away suddenly in July. Sweet, sassy straight-shooter Nikki Lane made for a perfect opener with her rootsy sound and vision that had folks swaying into the warm summer night.
