Joey Dosik likes to use his favorite sport, basketball, as a metaphor for affairs of the heart, and it’s fair to say that Friday’s concert at the Troubadour — the second of two nights celebrating Friday’s release of his album “Inside Voice” — was nothin’ but the bottom of the net.

With the Troubadour already packed, pianist Woody Goss of Vulfpeck set the mood with an opening set of piano music. Dosik then emerged with his backing band, saying “I don’t know if anyone listened to the album today” (which drew a huge roar) and kicking off the show with the title track. “This is the city of angels,” he said of his hometown. Dosik welcomed LeBron James to the Lakers, performed the song “Stories” solo (at one point not even using the mic, as the whole crowd was astonishingly quiet) and got the crowd to play the part of gospel choir on “Running Away.” The ensemble was joined near the end of the set by James Gadson.

Setlist: Inside Voice, Don’t Want It To Be Over, Emergency Landing, Past The Point, In Heaven, Get It Right, Stories, Grandma Song, Running Away, Kissing My Love, Competitive Streak, Game Winner, Take Mine
