On the front end of a lengthy U.S. tour to support their new album “Rainier Fog” (released last week), Alice in Chains packed the Hollywood Palladium on Wednesday night. With frontman William DuVall and guitarist Jerry Cantrell leading the way, and Mike Inez on bass and Sean Kinney behind the drums, they powered through a a 19-song set that sampled Alice in Chains’ entire discography. Much like their unique mix of ’90s grunge and heavy metal, the crowd that packed the venue was a melting pot of various headbangers: old rockers, metalheads, stoner rock enthusiasts and even some kids with their parents. It was clear that this crowd were fans of Alice in Chains music, both new and old. The massive pit at the Palladium showed their appreciation by getting rowdy and moshing to the riff heavy hits like “Them Bones” and “Man in the Box” and singing along to some of the slower, more emotional songs like “Nutshell.” (See full setlist here). Before closing out their night in Hollywood, DuVall introduced a special guest, Robby Krieger of the Doors, to join them for their final song “Rooster.”

The show was opened by Atlanta glam-rockers Starbender and the synth-punk Pink Slips, who are fronted by Grace McKagan (daughter of Duff McKagan from Guns N’ Roses).

Setlist: Check My Brain, Again, Never Fade, Them Bones, Dam That River, Hollow, Down in a Hole, No Excuses, Stone, We Die Young, Red Giant, Nutshell, It Ain’t Like That, So Far Under, Man in the Box. Encore: The One You Know, Got Me Wrong, Would?, Rooster
