Turns out Gringo Star can swing for the fences.

The cheekily named Atlanta quartet just released their fifth album, “Back to the City,” yet another collection of reliably catchy garage-pop that draws from the dusty corners of doo-wop, surf-rock and ’60s psychedelia, this one with a touch more sophistication with the addition of orchestral flourishes. It’s another hit for a band that has been piling them up for more than a decade now.

Speaking of that, baseball dominates the DIY video for the album’s title track. “We have a sandlot baseball league we’ve all been doing for the last nine or 10 years called ATL Sandlot Renegades,” says singer and multi-instrumentalist Nick Furgiuele, whose sister Hannah shot the video. “We get together a couple times a month throughout the year and have a real good time. It’s a great bunch of guys and gals. I thought it’d be great to incorporate a game into a music video since we have so much fun.”

Because of how the video is stylized, it’s a bit hard to get a good scouting report on the band’s diamond skills. But that is Furgiuele who goes yard. Nice uppercut, dude.
