On her new single “Stop Talking,” Miya Folick puts her finger on the pulse of best friends everywhere — dialing in to the patience, and often exasperation, of confidantes who constantly endure hearing about “that boy.” The colorful video for the upbeat pop song (directed by Ariel Fisher, Sarah C. Prinz and Folick), features the L.A.-based singer-songwriter supported by interpretive dancers (choreographed by Prinz) who amplify her heart-stabbing sentiments. And she did, indeed, write it for a friend of hers, as she reveals on Facebook, “‘Stop Talking’ is a song I made for my friend. It’s an ode to friendships that are brutally honest and deliciously fun. It’s meant to be a bop about being better people for ourselves and for our loved ones.” Indeed, the song doesn’t mince words, as she sings, “I generally don’t like to talk about the idiosyncracies of an obvious fool / It’s clear to me he’s not worth your energy / Let’s break it down / He’s just not very nice to you… The way you think is so unique but he’s takin’ all the real estate / Stop talking about that boy.”

“Stop Talking” is the lead single off Folick’s debut album, “Premonitions,” co-produced by Justin Raisen (Sky Ferreira, Charli XCX, Santigold and Angel Olsen), Yves Rothman and Luke Niccoli. The album will be released on Oct. 26 via Terrible Records and Interscope Records.
