L.A. concerts for Friday:

► MC5 founder Wayne Kramer celebrates the gold anniversary of “Kick Out the Jams,” bringing his “MC50” band of Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Brendan Canty (Fugazi), Billy Gould (Faith No More) and Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla) to the Ford Theatre for a sold-out show. Starcrawler and Jason Heath & the Greedy Souls will open.
► Courtney Barnett and Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks team up for a night at the Greek Theater, where Waxahatchee kicks things off.
► Now in their fourth decade, Japanese trio Shonen Knife visit the Bootleg Theater, joined by Kim & the Created and Nani at the Bootleg Theater
► T’was the night before Cal Jam, and all through Glen Helen Regional Park there will be early arrivals watching Billy Idol and Bridget Everett.
► Ghostland Observatory visit the Regent Theater in support of their new album “See You Later, Simulator,” their first release in eight years.
► Nick Lowe’s Quality Rock & Roll Revue holds forth at the El Rey Theatre, joined by Los Straitjackets and PI Power Trio.
