A concert tonight at the Hi Hat will benefit the family of Stephen Halliday, a retired real estate agent who was murdered Sept. 6 in the Dominican Republic.

Halliday, 64, the father of musicians Geoff (of the band Hands) and Alex Halliday, was slain with a machete while in the Dominican working on the family’s retirement home. Three men have been arrested in connection with his death.

Tonight’s concert — along with a GoFundMe campaign — will raise money for the legal fund to help the family seek justice and for travel expenses to the Caribbean for the case.  “It’s hard to ask for help when you’ve always taken care of your own things,” Angela Halliday, Stephen’s widow, told MSN, “but the money is to cover legal fees to get justice for Stephen.”

Performing at the show will be Neza Alexander, Giant Waste of Man (a side project of Cameron Dmytryk and Ben Heywood, who were bandmates in Fakers) and Hands. There is a suggested donation of $10 at the door.
