Stream: Joyeur, ‘Pusher’

L.A.-based duo Joyeur debuted early this year with the spring-loaded single “Dig,” and that was only the beginning for Anna Feller and Joelle Corey. Last month, they followed with their debut EP “LIFEEATER,” an adrenaline shot of percolating beats, upbeat melodies and feisty attitude.

The project features the seemingly unlikely alliance of an L.A. singer-songwriter (Corey) and a Russian-Israeli producer (and classically trained pianist) Feller, but they’ve hit on something that’s a little outside the box and plenty high-spirited. “I’m you’re drug and your pusher,” Corey declares with no small dose of pluck in “Pusher,” and “Fast As You Can” challenges the listener to ride out the elastic beats and keep up with Corey’s motormouth. As “Dance With Me” suggests, everything on the EP is dance-floor-ready, just not for the same moves every time out.
