Santa Monica duo Cayucas make the kind of bright indie-pop that could make you feel OK with being stuck in a traffic jam on the 405. Or, as the lyric video for their new single “Winter of ’98” suggests, their songs could turn a trip through the car wash into a transcendent experience.

The big news from twins Zach and Ben Yudin is that their album, “Real Life,” will be out in February via Park the Van Records. It’s the follow-up to 2015’s “Dancing at the Blue Lagoon” and also includes the single “Jessica WJ,” which was released in September.

Of the new single, Zach Yudin says “Winter of ’98 was inspired by the feelings of the late ’90s, moments, images, places and faces. It was cold. And things were new. A last chance to say something to someone you may never see again.”
