L.A. quartet Badflower have been climbing the rock ’n’ roll ladder since 2013, when they were briefly known as the Cartunes, adeptly rehashing familiar alt-rock tropes for those that find catharsis in them, not to mention feeding the appetites of anybody who thinks FM radio has lost some of its muscle.

The big news for the quartet of Josh Katz, Joey Morrow, Alex Espiritu and Anthony Sonetti isn’t their single “Heroin,” which has now climbed to the top of rock radio charts. The song was originally released in 2015 and appeared on the first release of 2016’s “Temper” EP, which was re-released this year. And the music video (featuring a cameo from “The Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki) also originally appeared in 2015 and was re-released last week.

The big news is that Badflower’s debut album “OK, I’m Sick” will be out Feb. 22, via John Varvatos Records, a label launched by the fashion designer. “Heroin’s” success follows the quartet’s breakthrough single “Ghost,” released this fall; it will appear, along with “x ANA x,” when the album arrives in 2019.
