The members of Liily haven’t yet reached drinking age, but the visceral intensity of the L.A. quintet’s alternative rock has been around for years. Because as long as there are suburbs, there will be youthful suburban angst.

Five months after debuting with the raucous single “Toro,” the band today announced that their debut EP, “I Can Fool Anybody in This Town,” will be out March 8 via indie label Flush Records. With the news comes the new single “Sepulveda Basin,” a tune that “is about the pleasures of living in the greatest place in the world: the San Fernando Valley,” the band says.

If the first single introduced Liily as the almost-metal, fully mental kids down the block, “Sepulveda Basin” shows their brooding side. Liily say they take their cues from artists such as Rage Against the Machine and Foals, and the new single pops the top on bottled-up emotions. Stabbing guitars bob and weave, setting the tone for Dylan Nash’s venting about an on-again, off-again relationship. Thus the chorus: “In and out again / It was the best I ever had / In and out again / My life’s growing so sad.” Self-loathing, meet smoldering.

Liily only recently graduated from playing house parties and warehouse shows — DIY nights which they call Brekfest. They’ve brought the energy from those to their current Tuesday night residency at the Echo. Hide the children, or don’t.
