Sarah Tudzin, the guitar-slinging enlightener who chatters about the foibles of modern life as frontwoman of Illuminati Hotties, captured millennials’ fancy with her 2018 album “Kiss Yr Frenemies.” Her edgy power-pop songs (she coined the term “tenderpunk”) are infused with hooks and energy, and they hit home like the text message you’ve been waiting hours for.

There’s no parallel between the Iggy Pop tune and her “I Wanna Keep Yr Dog,” the first new Illuminati Hotties track since the album. But there’s a fun story.

“One time I went on a date with someone I met through a dating app … and their dog was much cuter than they were,” Tudzin says. “If you’re out there reading this, I’m sorry it didn’t work out. I still don’t have a dog, but at least I ended up with a song.”

Fans of current bands such as Los Campesinos! and smart ’90s guitar-pop like Letters to Cleo and Blake Babies/Juliana Hatifield will want to make friends with this one. Of course, Sarah Mae Schmidt’s video stars some canine pals.
