Paige Stark’s sublime new rainy-day meditation is a song for those times it feels as if the walls are closing in. “I’m doing my best to let you in / You know I want both of us to win,” Stark sings wearily but hopefully on “Depression Song,” her second solo single.

The song, which follows last fall’s debut “Albratross,” was recorded by Grammy-winning engineer Cassidy Turbin, with contributions by Jon Brion. Stark, of course, is the singing/drumming face of L.A. trio Tashaki Miyaki (who, at last report, had new music on the way as well), as well as a multi-instrumentalist/producer who has worked with artists such as L.A. Witch and Cherry Glazerr. Reminiscent of Aimee Mann, Stark’s solo material finds her composing at the keyboard, where, as “Depression Song” suggests, she lets herself lose her mind and find it again.
