Come for the bass saxophone, stay for the dancers. “Rocksteady” is the new video (arriving “just in time for International Women’s Day,” says the announcement) from genre-mashing sibling duo Wild Belle. It’s also the lead track on the band’s new album, “Everybody One of a Kind,” out March 22.
Starring Wild Belle frontwoman Natalie Bergman and some sensual dancers, the video was a collaboration with Alan Del Rio (Blood Orange, St. Vincent, Maggie Rogers, Solange, Florence and the Machine, among others). “I’m a naughty girl / I’m a nice girl too,” Bergman coos as “Rocksteady’s” groove starts a party of its own.
The song is the third single from the new album, following “Mockingbird” (which has a Bergman/Del Rio video as well) and the slow burner “Have You Both.” Wild Belle’s torch — the one they carry for reggae and dub-infused pop — is flaming.
