Oxford indie-rockers Foals shook the rafters of a packed Shrine Auditorium last Sunday night, in a show that might only be described as “not school night friendly.”

They kicked off their lengthy 16-song set with “On The Luna,” off their fifth full-length released earlier in March, “Part 1 Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost.” Though touring primarily in support of their new album, the band made sure to pepper in gems of albums past including “My Number,” the heavy “Inhaler,” emotive “Spanish Sahara” and “Olympic Airways” to name a few. Their full electric bombast employed, the crowd thrashed and seethed, crashing against the barricades and shouting into the night. Frontman Yannis Philippakis, known for his crowd antics, hopped off stage sans guitar and crowd-walked briefly before resuming his electric incantations. Before the night was done Philippakis addressed the crowd, “this is the best fucking show we’ve ever played in this town,” before bursting into their encore with the math-y dance-punk crescendo, “Two Steps, Twice,” off their 2008 debut “Antidotes.” By all accounts the ensuing madness was biblical.

Heading up support were solid sets from Brooklyn post-punkers Bear Hands and SoCal indie veterans Kiev.

Set list: On the Luna, Mountain at My Gates, In Degrees, Olympic Airways, My Number, Syrups, Black Gold, Spanish Sahara, Providence, Sunday, Red Socks Pugie, Late Night, Exits, Inhaler.
