“Girls to the front!” the crowd erupted.

More than just the iconic phrase of Bikini Kill frontwoman Kathleen Hannah, it was the essence of Friday night at a bursting Hollywood Palladium. Playing the second of their four-show residency at the Palladium, Bikini Kill powered through a 25 song set (including two encores) in just little over an hour. Only their second show in 22 years, the band did not skip a beat — with the consummate pros played effortlessly in spite of their blistering pace.

Much to their fans’ delight, the four-piece leaned heavily into their 1993 debut “Pussy Whipped,” but covered an even spread across their discography, opening strong with “This Is Not a Test” off of 1994’s “The C.D. Version of the First Two Records” and closing with encore performances of “Double Dare Ya,” “Suck My Left One” and finally “For Tammy Rae.” As instructive as it was entertaining, many concert-goers brought their young girls to witness the fearless performance of band credited with having started the riot grrrl movement.

L.A. pre-teen punks (and Girlschool alumnae) the Linda Lindas opened the night with high-energy as they covered punk hits.

Setlist: This Is Not a Test, Don’t Need You, New Radio, Jigsaw Youth, Feels Blind, I Hate Danger, In Accordance to Natural Law, Demi Rep, Reject All American, Alien She, No Backrub, Sugar, Hamster Baby, Tell Me So, Magnet, Capri Pants, Resist Psychic Death, Outta Me, For Only, Distinct Complicity, Carnival, Rebel Girl. Ensore 1: Double Dare Ya, Suck My Left One. Encore 2: For Tammy Rae
