In baseball parlance, the new single from Sleater-Kinney is a home run. Or in words from the lyrics, “grand slammable.”

It’s titled “Hurry on Home,” the first new music from the pioneering trio of Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss since their 2015 comeback album “No Cities to Love.” It’s also the first from their much-talked-about collaboration with Annie Clark (St. Vincent) as producer.

“Hurry on Home” thrums with Sleater-Kinney’s typical urgency only somehow sounds bigger. “Instead of just going into the studio to document what we’d done, we were going in to explore and to find the essence of something,” Brownstein says. “To dig in deeper.” Doing so, adds Tucker, “was like this manic energy of empowerment.”

Sleater-Kinney’s new album, “The Center Won’t Hold,” is coming later this year.
