■ Saturday: The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde is preparing for the Sept. 6 release of “Valve Bone Woe,” 14 songs written by songwriters such as Brian Wilson, Charles Mingus (see “Meditation on a Pair of Wire Cutters”), Frank Sinatra, Hoagy Carmichael, John Coltrane, Nick Drake, Ray Davies and Rodgers and Hammerstein. With the L.A. Philharmonic, she’ll perform much of the album at the Hollywood Bowl. Tickets.
■ Saturday: There’s a packed lineup at Dirty Penni Fest IV, which is being headlined by the Buttertones (performing a special tribute to the late Dick Dale).
