Ears Wide Open: Cryogeyser

New L.A. trio Cryogeyser is forging a lo-fi but bewitching sound swathed in reverb and melancholy. Think of it as Galaxie 500 and Cocteau Twins meeting for a cup of coffee to reflect on relationship problems.
The band features the talents of singer-guitarist Shawn Marom, bassist Hunter Martinez and drummer Jeremy McLennan. They have released but two singles so far: “Leach,” which, as the title suggests, meditates on someone who merely “sucks the life out,” and “Co-Star,” a beautifully glacial confession of longing.
They are the first two singles from Cryogeyser’s debut album “Glitch,” which comes out Aug. 9 on Terrible Records, which has released music by Miya Folick, Chairlift and Kirin J Callinan, among many others. (Those who attend tonight’s show at the Echo can get a secret password to download the album early.)
In the meantime, rinse your regrets away in the wash of guitar on “Leach.”
