Noah McBeth, aka NoMBe, has announced that his sophomore album “Chromatopia” will be out in March.

The German-born artist, the godson of Chaka Khan, arrived in L.A. around 2013, earning attention for his early singles and the “Change of Hearts” EP. His supersized debut album, “They Might’ve Even Loved Me,” which came out in early 2018, offered a dizzying (and fairly intoxicating) array of sleekly styled rock, funk, R&B, psych and pop.

“Paint California,” released Dec. 4, is his first new music in over a year. It’s a breezy yet intimate dance track, with McBeth’s soulful vocals carried along by a whoosh of muted guitars, elastic synths and bubbling effects. Stash this one away for a drive along the coast, or the return of those warm beach days.

Of the new song, NoMBe says, “It’s about offering someone the world and acknowledging that love can be whatever you want it to be.”
