A cast of local all-stars and a bunch of kids are featured in the video for Alice Bag’s new single “Breadcrumbs,” but it’s the Bob Baker Marionettes who steal the show.

And, yes, first-wave punk icon Bag is still making waves. The singer-songwriter, author, educator, activist and co-founder of the Bags today announced that “Sister Dynamite,” her third album in the past five years, would be out April 24 via In the Red Records. The album, co-produced by Bag and longtime collaborator Lysa Flores, features the work of guitarist Sharif Dumani, bassist David O. Jones and drummers Candace P.K. Hansen and Rikki “Styxx” Watson. Flores adds vocals and rhythm guitar, and vocals by Allison Wolfe (Bratmobile, Sex Stains).

“‘Breadcrumbs’ is actually inspired by working with Allison,” says Bag, who previously played with Wolfe and Seth Bogart in a band called Cliquey Bitches. “She’s got tons of attitude, and the intonation on that song is totally me imagining Allison singing it.”

All the aforementioned, along with engineer Mark Rains, Nina Diaz, members of the Linda Lindas, Death Valley Girls and Fatty Cakes & the Puff Pastries, makes cameos in the video, which was filmed at the new Bob Baker HQ in Highland Park

The song, meanwhile, is one of those irrepressible pop-punk songs that populate Bag’s recent catalog. Bop hard, but listen hard, too. It’s about treating your partner with respect.
